Stephen Shimatzki According to authors their linear friction welding machines have an axial force capability of 250kN (25 tonnes). No info about project from video, but we can roughly imagine.
I am not 100% sure, but guess that friction welding was used for welding the rails in some HSR project (ICE, TGV??)
